Farewells & welcomes.........

by , in
Ok...........so, I guess all of you are sorted with what you're gonna wear tomorrow night...............last minute alterations, deciding on accessories & making sure your new pair of heels won't give you bites at the end of all that dancing.......phew! Ushering in the new year sure is hectic....isn't it???

Well........tell you what? I'm absolutely not bothered or worked up at all!
'Coz I'm gonna be in my PJs...........having a relaxing night curled up on the couch in front of the TV with some hot coffee & chips to give me company!!! (Just the thought is making me feel so satisfied! Sigh!)

And now that I don't have run about handling last minute emergencies before the last night of the year..........I have lots of leisure to sit down & look back upon the year gone by..................here's a summary for you all (in no particular order):

  • Made many new friends, including some of you wonderful bloggers out there!! :)
  • Met THE man of my life - loving, caring, mature, understanding, funny, naughty, hard-working, sensible, sensitive, supportive, down to earth......(Oh! I can go on & on & on..............)
  • Took some very serious & very important decisions of my life........regarding my career & my dreams.
  • Started my own line of clothes & accessories  - Howrah Bridge was finally constructed!
  • Learnt new things, tread new paths & opened new doors...
  • Revisited some old skills - danced, sewed & created lots of handmade stuff.
  • Went through some tough phases & emerged at the other end, stronger & wiser.
  • Watched my li'l sis grow up faster every day, study more & more for the upcoming board exams & handle adolescent attention from teenage boys (sometimes expertly, sometimes not-so-expertly!).
  • Watched some good movies & read some good books.
  • Won the 2nd prize at the Sit & Draw competition at my workplace on Children's Day! Lol!! :P
  • Sang Christmas carols & enacted the nativity story for some sweet old folks at an oldage home.
  • Witnessed loads of friends getting married all around.........& realised that my time is drawing near!
  • Discovered myself with every new post out here.......& had tons of fun sharing so much of my life with all of you lovely people!!!

Here's my Christmas eve outfit (as promised in my last post)...........if these pictures make you feel that it's quite cold out here, let me tell you that it's all gone along with Christmas........the New Year is bringing in temperatures as high as everyone's spirits! It's been a short winter, I tell you.......sigh!

Piled up the woolens for a night out on the most beautifully decked up street of the town......lights, festivities, Santas of all ages & shapes and good food made my Christmas eve lots of fun! :))

Sorry for the poor picture, but this one's from my phone...

And this is while waiting for the dinner at Mocambo..........I love the ambiance of this place...& just don't get me started on the meat lasagna.......*drool*

Striped tee: Tommy Hilfiger
Poncho: Max
Denim: Shoppers Stop
Pink snood: 109 F

This time around, I made some new year resolutions that I mean to keep this time!
What's yours???

Dance away the last few hours of the year...............& let's ring in the new one with much pomp & grandeur!!!

Here's to a wonderful year ahead!

Merry me wishing merriness to you all!!!

by , in
The bells are jingling........the lights are twinkling..........the cakes are baking............*happy grin*

........and I'm wishing you all my lovely readers, friends & co-bloggers a
VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

I had a fun-packed Christmas eve - dinner out with family - and an even nicer Christmas day with some rest, good home-cooked lunch, time out with family (specially with cousin who's come down to town for the festive days) and finally, some "we-time" with the guy...............sigh! What else can I ask for??? =)

Won't blabber much today..........since mom's already serving dinner & I can hear my name being called since the last 15 mins by almost all the members of the family......... :P

Here's my Christmas day outfit...........did not want to wear red (since all the world & it's neighbor seems to be wearing that color).......& definitely wanted to steer clear of a black dress (for similar reasons).....in fact, wanted to keep it casual, yet chic.......I mean, everyone around me is "dressed up" anyways, and I hate to be part of the crowd!

Had this sudden desire to wear my denim skirt (don't know why!)
The tights were a must, thanks to the continuously plummeting temperatures...

This jacket is one of my favorites - it's distinct military look & wide-lapelled double-breasted style makes it a great piece to style casually as well as formally! :)

My multi-colored scarf & feline ring completed the accessories along with my "now-being-used-daily" black purse

And............lo & behold! My new flat booties!!! Aren't they just awesomeness!! <3

Jacket: Wills Lifestyle
Denim skirt: Tommy Hilfiger
Black tights: Tibetan Market, Bangalore
Scarf: Thrifted
Black purse: Metro Plaza, Kolkata
Stone-encrusted ring: Accessorize
Booties: Catwalk

Have to rush off now...........my name's almost echoing all over the house!!!

See ya guys soon!
Have saved the Christmas eve outfit to be shared later!

Have a great festive season!

Lots of love & best wishes,

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer....

by , in
.........had a very shiny nose!

And right now, so have I... :(

'Coz I've caught a terrible terrible cold (thanks to the sudden plunge in the temperatures) & more often than not, my nose is turning a bright red (a very similar shade to that of my favorite pair of pants!! Lol!) due to the ever-increasing chill in the air!!!

Also, the title of the post is the result of the numerous Christmas carols I've been practising all day for a show that some of us from the workplace are presenting at an oldage home for Christmas.
Hark! The herald angles sing...........

On another not, here's what I wore this Sunday........my stockings were sure glad to be able to see the outside of my wardrobe after more than a year!

Aah! It's time for some good ol' layering!!! :)
And of course, I donned this bright pink pair of tights after eons of deep-in-the-wardrobe hibernation!!!

A Howrah Bridge statement piece decked my neckline..........don't you just love all the colors happening out there??? :))

And........my "Disco-Diva" heart ring, as my sis calls it!
Bright & bold - just like the way I love 'em!!! <3

Striped long sweater: Bare Denim
Grey sweater dress: Mango
Pink tights: Platinum Mall, Bangkok
Bib necklace: Howrah bridge
Geometric heart ring: Aldo
Black patent sling purse: Metro Plaza, Kolkata
Black shoes: Tresmode

So............are we all high on the Christmas spirits???

I can almost hear the bells a-jingling!!!

And although we are not that much into the celebrations as my peers from the western part of the world, I'm almost as enthused about the whole shindig just by looking at the festive pictures on all my favorite blogs..........it's time to hang the stockings dears!
(In fact, my mom never failed to sneak in li'l gift packages under my pillow on Christmas eve till I was about 15 yrs old!!! Good ol' mom........playing Santa tirelessly for all these years!)

Hope all of you out here have a fabulous run-up to the Yuletide weekend!!! :D

Cheers for an awesome season of festivity & fun!

Much love,

by , in
I'm back! I'm back!! I'm back!!!

And as you can see........I'm terribly excited!

Well..........for starters, my line of garments & accessories are getting lots of appreciation and buyers.......and FYI (for your information...d-uh!), when my creations have the desired effect on people....it gives a high like nothing else!

Also, I just had a relaxing day out with the boy.........just us, strolling around......lazing around........enjoying the slight chill in the winter air as the sun went down on the river.......talking all sorts of things.......and laughing A LOT!

So now you know why I'm all smiles! :D

Now.........on to the outfit.............

This is what I wore for my day-long date...

Somehow.........the amalgamation of the peace sign & the florals (along with the aviators) is lending a subtle 80s vibe to the outfit.......what do you think???

Wedges are the perfect choice when you have to keep both style & comfort in mind........I couldn't think of anything more appropriate than these cute floral wedges for a day of walking around...

And last, but not the least, I had to show you all the new cover of my BlackBerry......Polka love, anyone???

Denims: Lee Cooper
Peace print scarf: Thrifted, New Market
Lady Dior knockoff bag: Brigade Rd., Bangalore
Wrist bauble: Westside

Winter flora

by , in
So the chill is slowly settling in...........the evenings are getting colder...........& the wind has a zing to it! :)

Yayyyy for the approaching winters!!!!

It's time to take the extra layers out of their hibernation...........it's time for that extra cup of steaming hot coffee in the evenings.........it's time for snuggling deep into the blankets as we drift off to sleep at night..........sigh! Isn't this time of the year just beeeeautiful???

Ok......so what that I'm super-busy working on my line of accessories & clothing? So what that I'm having to slog till 2-3 am at night..........& then rush to office at 9 am in the morning?? So what that I'm awfully pissed at certain people for being imbecile, double-faced jerks???
I'm still loving every moment of this starting-to-get-chilly weather............and still expressing my joy with a burst of colors.....yet again! :))

Firstly, do excuse the frazzled expression & wet hair.....
It's just that I was running so late for the movie (though Breaking Dawn was a tad bit disappointing...to be honest!) & didn't want to make the boy wait! :)

I LOVE denim tunics/shirtdresses. No more discussion.

And here comes my floral scarf to ward off the chill at the movie theatre & the winds while coming back home. The pretty pink flowers complement the fuschia tights! :)
Add to that my yellow sling purse for that bright pop of instant pizzazz!!! Ting!
Note: More colors added by the cute strawberry charms necklace & heart ring....I never tire of colors, I tell you!

Denim tunic/shirtdress: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Pink tights: BK Market, Kolkata
Floral scarf: Thrifted, Kolkata
Yellow sling purse: BK Market, Kolkata
Strawberry charms necklace: Linking Road, Mumbai
Heart ring: Accessorize
Aviators: Aldo Accessories
Sandals: Puma

That's about all for now..........

Have a great week ahead fellas!!!

Hopefully I'll have more layers on me to share in my next post!
Yoohoo, Winter! You listening???

Till then, take care peeps!

Love,
Polka Princess

The Owl & the Clock

by , in
I know...I know........I have been bad enough to have been off the radar for the last ten days! But then.........I was busy (D-uh!), not only at work........but also with Howrah Bridge (for the uninitiated, that's my brand of accessories & clothes) stuff.........in fact, I'm working on lots of new designs & products that I hope to share with you soon!
Till then, do check out my collection of dresses over at the Howrah Bridge blog.........would love to hear your feedback on the same! :)

On the outfits front, things have been pretty drab........what with rushing to office in the mornings & rushing back to work on my designs at home in the evening........I haven't been able to rig up anything impressive enough! :(

Still.......have got something for you guys from a couple of days back........the most interesting thing about this outfit is the accessories!! Enjoy!

Just wore a black cotton blouse with pretty ruffles & ladder lace with a pair of beige corduroy trousers.....simple & can-never-go-wrong (playing safe....not very me........but still!)...

The highlights of the outfit - the super-cute accessories!! :)
I've been craving for a nice pocket-watch pendant for a long time.............finally got myself one on my last trip to Mumbai (Colaba Causeway rocks, I tell you!!)
And just don't get me started on the adorable "Mr. Big Eyes" owl ring! Isn't it just awesomeness??? *happy grin*

Black blouse: Sepia
Corduroy trousers: Shoppers Stop
Pocket-watch pendant: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Owl ring: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai

To Etsy...or not to Etsy......

by , in
Like I had said in this post, my red pants are my current obsession. And I'm still OD-ing on them.

So much so, that the boy (who's the least bit interested in fashion, or clothes, for that matter..) was compelled to mention that I've been wearing my red pants consecutively for our last five dates!! :P
(Is he threatened that my red pants will turn out to be my more constant & loyal partner? I wonder......*raised eyebrow*)

That is how much obsessed I am.

Come'on! You can't hang me for that, now!!

I've paired these red beauties with almost all kinds of stuff from my wardrobe (Sorry! Haven't got snaps of all the outfits...).....right from grey slouchy tops to a black sleeveless tee to a military-inspire navy shirt!

So......this time, I thought of giving this almost-monochromatic theme a try! :)

This coral blouse with lace inserts is one of the most beautiful tops in my wardrobe....The soft pinkish coral hue, the ivory crochet laces, the flared sleeves & loose silhouette and the deep cut back with a tie-up (Sorry! No snaps!) make me feel so fun & flirty when I wear this!! :)

See what I mean???

Also, I thought of going nude on the shoes & bag, so as to keep the focus on the colors of the garmets!!
This vintage camel purse is one of my favorite bags.........can you believe that I thrifted this for just $1? :D

Top with lace & crochet deatils: Linking Road, Mumbai
Red pants: 109 F
Camel leather purse: Thrifted, LEXPO
Necklace: Aisha, Bangalore
Fabric covered bangles: Platinum Mall, Bangkok
Red ivory bangle: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Silver metal bangles: Commercial Street, Bangalore
Yellow heart ring: Accessorize
Red & black wayfarers: Idee, gifted
Nude flats: Tresmode

Hope you all are geared up for a fabulous weekend ahead! (It has already started for most of you out there!!)

I'm contemplating setting up an Etsy shop for my brand Howrah Bridge...........what say?
Should I?
Or should I not???
That is the question.....

Happy weekend cupcakes!!
