Sun + sand + sea = a happy me!!!

by , in
An impromptu li'l trip to a  nearby seaside town with family..............and am back fresh & tanned!!!

Sorry, but I didn't get any time to notify you all about my wee li'l absence from Blogger (actually from the Internet, for that matter!) for the past 4 days..............am really really backlogged as far as reading all your lovely posts & commenting on them are concerned.......but am working on it..........& will catch up soon! Promise!!! :)

The place I was dragged to by my family (I was in no mood to go to some sunny place & get tanned in this heat!!) is a small seaside town in a neighboring state which is a hub for sun-n-sand maniacs throughout the year! Even this fierce heat & high temparatures couldn't deter hordes of tourists from thronging the place.............& on reaching, I felt as if the whole world & it's neighbors are gathered there to celebrate some obsolete tradition I didn't know about!! But at the end of 4 relaxing days there, I felt that the sun, the sand & the sea was quite rejuvenating for the mind & body..............& hence am back now with new vigour & energy............and of course, with an outfit post for you all! :))

As you can see, I simply couldn't resist doing a shoot on one of the beaches............& while at it, I kept on wishing (all in vain) that if only I had such beautiful locations to shoot at nearer to home!! Sigh!

This is at the Sun Temple at Konark, near Puri (that's the place I visited) which is one of the oldest & most important monuments in India. The whole temple was carved out of stone eons ago by skilled workers. There are intricate carvings & idols all over the temple.
But sadly, most of it is getting damaged & breaking off in places (because of various external circumstances like vandalism, natural disasters etc.), for which renovation work is being done by the Govt of India to restore the heritage.

The Chandrabagha beach is around half an hour's drive from the main town of Puri............but it's a much cleaner & nicer one, less-frequented by the masses. I was in a sunny mood to match the holiday vibes & thought I'll go for bright blocks of colors for a whole day's outing!!

This tank is one of my fav thrifted pieces........its soft, comfy & the color went beautifully with my coral capris. The cotton capris,  on the oether hand, were a aperfect pair for the beach..........lightweight, comfortable & great for travelling all over the place in!

I threw on the shrug to keep the wind out & some of the tan too!!! Again, the cobalt perfectly complemented the kelly green of the tank & the coral of the capris! :)

As for the accessories, I went all Boho with a string of beads, a stack of multi-colored bangles, my super-cute bow ring & a very sassy denim flower brooch......

And of course, my loyal pair of aviators to keep the blinding sun out of my eyes! Also note, my peace sign ear studs & bright green nail paint!!!

P.S.: The  striped wooden bangles came the other day in a surprise gift package sent by an adorable friend, along with lots of other awesome stuff, which you'll get to see here sooner or later! It was just super-sweet of her! Thanx a bunch Susha!!! Mwah! :)

P.P.S: Can you see my sis on the other side of the camera reflected in my sunnies??? ;)

Last, but not the least, my favorite pair of Puma flip-flops was my constant companion on my seaside sojourn. And the multicolored beaded anklet adds the perfect Boho touch! :))

A colorful affair...

by , in
"Colors must fit together like pieces in a puzzle or cogs in a wheel" ~ Hans Hofmann

And nothing can be truer or more apt for the color blocking trend that's cooking up a storm throughout the world this season! Colors that are put together in an outfit should somehow create a whole story together...........they should be such that the whole look will be incomplete without any one of those hues!!! The SS '11 shows on ramps around the world were beautiful puzzles created by the designers with the exact right pieces fitting in to make perfect pictures! And nowadays, we are seeing the more street style versions of those color stories in our favorite fashion blogs....... :)

I've always been very much of a "color" person............since childhood, I've shown an affinity for all bright hues & cheery shades........in fact, I've always preferred the rainbow to the zebra crossing! ;)

Throughout my school life & years of fashion college, my affair with all sorts of colors continued........& that is one relationship that I'm still going strong at! I'm one loyal lover when it comes to colors........& I like sporting my love for the bright hues with a an equally bright smile! :D

This outfit grew from my absolute want of flaunting my recently purchased neckpiece from Vero Moda. This neckpiece is an ultimate love-child of my obsessively passionate affair with colors...........the riot of multi-colored strands of beads was love at first sight...........& mine at second! :))

My harem pants (or zouaves, as these drop crotch versions are better known as) are my saviors for daytime outings during the hot & sultry summer. They are light, airy & so so comfy, at the same time, being ultra stylish!! (Not to mention, something you won't catch every other person flaunting on the streets)

I had picked up this pair of pants from Mumbai due to its colorful print............cute & colorful hearts scattered all over won me over instantly! I mostly pair this with a solid colored tee.........a bright red one this time.....along with my embroidered sandals........I feel so happy with all the colors on me!!! :)

See the cute print on my pants??? :))

My bold rings with faux stones & colorful stack of bangles perfectly complemented this beauty around my neck!

Aaaahh! A closer look at my love-child...........isn't it simply gorgeous? And the best part is that this can be worn with all sorts of things........& with all sorts of colors too! Can't wait to try it out with different outfits............be ready to see a lot more of it in posts to come!

P.S.: See the Peace sign studs on my ears!!

Well...........this post is full of colors........& anything with colors in it always makes me smile.........so, I've been smiling away all the while that I'm writing this post (and my mom & sis think am absolutely crazy........typing away furiously with a silly smile on my face......lolz!)

Hope I could make you all smile as well! :)

A Striped Story

by , in
Oh. My. God. You just won't believe how hot it is getting here everyday!!! It's like the sun's actually getting stronger by the day...........& using all that strength (read heat) against us mere mortals...

I had taken leave from office today..........awfully happy that my mid-week leave has been granted, thinking that I'll have a gala time out shopping with mom & maybe even catch up on  some quality time with my li'l sister...........and blissfully unaware of the fate that awaited me........
From the moment I woke up in the morning & stepped out of my room, I knew I was in for a tough day ahead! The blast of heat that greeted me the moment I stepped out of my room (my room was still cool, thanks to the AC being on whole night) was overwhelming to say the least. Later in the day, the time spent out shopping with mom just felt like 5 hours of sweating, swearing & sulking. The sunlight pouring in through the window glass of my car seemed to be competing with the fully-turned-on AC inside........and winning too!! Phew! I bathed 3 times throughout the day (unable to bear the heat).........& still felt no relief whatsoever! Heat seems to be emanating from whichever surface is coming in contact with my skin - the bed, the clothes, the tables & also this very chair I'm seating on! :(

Lesson to be learnt: Do not take leave from office (even if you have 3 more compensatory offs pending) till summer's over!!! The central air-conditioning out there is worth all the workload, tiffs with the Boss, pending files & deadlines put together!

Coming to the outfit, I don't know if I've told you all this before, but I just love stripes (as much as I love checks.......& polka dots!) Bold stripes, thin stripes, monochromatic stripes, multi-colored stripes - I'm always in love with the lines!!! :)

This is what I wore out on a movie with a friend last Sunday! (Sorry, I know am posting it a bit late.......but better late than never, no?)

This top was picked up from Benetton on my Bangalore sojourn last January. Wearing it for the first time (bad, bad me!)...........but it was a great choice for a hot, summer day. The loose & comfy silhouette, the interesting slitted kimono sleeves, the horizontal & vertical striped panels - all these succeeded in making me fall for this top..........& the funniest part is that this was picked up from the Kids' section (size: 11-12 yrs).......lolz!! :))

This necklace is actually my sister's. But the color of the beads were so perfect with the stripes that I couldn't help but borrow it for the day! :)

P.S.: Check out my new favorite hot pink nails!!!

Sorry.......this photo is a bit blurred........but still, I really liked it somehow, so wanted to share with you guys........what do you think?

Striped top: United Colors of Benetton, Bangalore
Denims: Jealous 21, Bangalore
Necklace: Platinum Mall, Bangkok (Borrowed from sis)
Bangles: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Ring: New Market, Kolkata
Watch: Kenneth Cole, Kolkata
Peep-toe wedges: Enroute, Kolkata

Dressing up in this heat is becoming excessively difficult! Don't feel like wearing anything but shorts & skirts..........but office rules.....sigh!! Hope the heat will die down soon (it was 40 degree Celsius today!!)..........or else, it's gonna be one lone & tortuous summer for us!!! :(  *Prayers to the Sun God*

Trying to keep it cool...........

Photo Fever

by , in
My! My! Has it been a WEEK since I've last posted? Where have all the days gone??? With so much happening all around me, sometimes I lose track of time...........oh, how it flies!!! Sigh!

And then there's news which I'm so eager to share with you all...........but can't right now due to some given circumstances..........well, as the Indian proverb goes, "Patience bears the sweetest fruit" (Sabr ka phal meetha hota hain...)........so, wait & watch this space guys, coz I promise to bring some juicy (don't know about sweet....should be) news for you all!

As for outfits.......well, I did come up with a couple of nice ones during the week..........but believe it or not, I didn't get a chance to do a shoot in them!!! I know........I know.......you guys must be thinking what kind of an inefficient & dimwit fashion blogger does that??? But then, situations & lack of time didn't allow me to get clicked............& as a result, I've come back without an outfit post for you all!!!

But not to despair, coz I've something else which I hope you guys will be equally interested in! Remember my photography post on child labour? (Refresh your memory by clicking here) Well..........on that very outing, I had clicked lots of other pictures as well.............& since then, I've been planning to share all those snaps with you as well, but didn't get a chance..............well, today I remembered those now-almost-forgotten (it's almost been a month!) photographs & thought "why not?".........now's the best time to share them with you! So....here goes....... :)

These pictures are from a photo walk that me & some more-professionally-inclined photographer friends went on around the Howrah Bridge (which is built on the river Hooghly) & a flower market which is located at the foot  of it. I like capturing the myriad moods & moments of an otherwise busy locale...........I think these moments have the whole essence of the place in them..........do you think so? What do you feel when you look at the above pictures??? Do lemme know.......... :)

Last but not the least, the photographer faces the camera! Thanks for the click, Auro!!! :)

Have a great Sunday guys!!! :))

Promise to be back with an outfit post next..........

Till then,
Stay stylish....
