A maxi End!

by , in
Hey there lovelies!!!!

How did your Christmas & Boxing Day go??? Hope you all had a wonderful time...........and are still at it, partying away the last weekend of the year!!!!!!!! :))

Well............looks like the year-end is turning out to be extra-awesome for me! I have been meeting up with friends.......hanging out with the city (a bit).........partying.......attending music concerts.........spending time with the guy............watching movies.........and eating out a lot!

But I'm not getting used to all the excitement........and neither am I accepting each fun-filled day to be a part of my normal, work-crazed life. I know it's just going to end till the start of next year........and right from the 2nd day of January, I'll be forced back to the mundane necessities of life.
But, for now, I'm living in the moment........and enjoying it to the fullest!!! :D

Back to the post, this outfit is from earlier this month. Back when the cold didn't cut through the thick woollen layers right to our skin.......back when the chilly winds didn't threaten us with their bone-rattling ferocity the moment we stepped out of the house..........back when we could think of wearing pretty, sleeveless maxi dresses without being afraid of being frozen to death!

Wore this dress to the first day of an exhibition @ Hotel Hindutan International where I was showcasing my brand of clothes & accessories. Specially like the mustard & black combination and the sheer yoke of the dress!
Needless to say, I was wearing Howrah Bridge (that's my own brand).......and you can even see a glimpse of the same dress for sale hanging from the rack beside me! ;P

I never used to have the confidence of trying out maxi dresses before. But since I took the bold step towards wearing my first one for a fashion event some months back, there was no stopping me. Now I love wearing them!!!

Maxi dress: Howrah Bridge (Also available in red & black)
Yellow necklace: Platinum Mall, Bangkok
Stone & wire ring: New Market, Kolkata
Black belt: ???
Black satin slip-on heels with bows: INC.5

If you want to order the dress, or even get something similar custom-made in your size & your choice of style & color, do drop in a mail at

In fact, you can even see some of my other clothes/designs on the racks. Feel free to check out more on the Howrah Bridge Facebook page.

In other news, I've been featured yet again in the NYTimes Street Style segment last week!!! In all my Fair Isle-ed glory! :D
[This being the first time!]

Outfit from this post

Have a wonderful end-of-the-year guys! And make sure you usher in the new year with much pomp & grandeur!!!
And don't forget to share your new year resolutions with me! (Am working on my own list as I write this...)

I'll start the next year with the recently held city blogger meet post! Stay tuned!!! :)

Glad 2 b a Woman? Then go for Neons!

by , in
If you have been one of my regular readers, or at least, followed my style stories on Facebook, you may have not seen much neon on me. Although, you surely know my love for anything bright & vibrant.
Neon has been huge all over the world for quite some time now. So, you may wonder why I haven't endorsed fluorescent fashion yet? Well....I wanted to. I must tell you, I wanted to.
And till date, I thought I had.

But, surprisingly, while compiling pictures for this post, I realised, that I was wrong. Although I love the Neon trend to bits, I have hardly ever incorporated it in my outfits. So, although my outfits are always full of color & contrasts, neon is seldom a part of the color splash.

So, now, I will consciously be on the lookout for neon products whenever I'm shopping. :)

Oh! And hope you guys will like this article on the Neon trend contributed by Glad2bawoman. If you are proud to be a part of the fairer sex, then do check out this website, they will surely make your confidence stronger!

Neon bag & leggings, Neon belt & watch, Neon ring & nail paint, Neon belt & brooch

The latest trend to take the fashion industry by storm is bright and in-your-face shades of neon. Put away your pastels and other soft colours, this is a trend that looks like it’s here to stay!
Dull, mellow, boring pastel shades have given way to the outrageous, bold, lively neon shades that are sure to grab the limelight! Be it acid green, or muted pink, electric blue, or florescent orange, it is the flavour of the season to go the ‘neon’ way from head to toe, with not only girls dressed in neon apparel but also neon coloured footwear and nail paint!
Feminine as well as feisty, bold as well as beautiful, the popping pinks, loud limes and zingy yellows are getting all the adoration like never before! The dazzling splash of colours adds a whole new dimension to your personality, igniting your spirits as well as of those around you. Be it during the summers when the soaring temperatures are driving everyone crazy, or the drizzling monsoons when the overcast sky dampens mood, a pop of neon on you works best to brighten up your look as well as your persona. In Greek, the word “neon” means “new one”, and indeed, it renews your fashion quotient in a way that nothing else can! Most of the international brands and labels, as well as local showrooms and outlets are keeping a huge stock of neon garments so as to meet the demand. This experimentation has surely weaved magic, and is here to stay!
What’s more interesting is that girls and women are also choosing to flaunt their “neon” style statement even in bags, shoes and nail paints, which accounts for the huge range of neon products flooding the markets as well their all-time high demand, that reflects in the sales. The zing and flashy factor that is oozed by neon shades catches the fancy of the wearer as well as the onlookers. Neighbour’s envy, owner’s pride, indeed! However, one must be careful not to turn this fashion trend into a fashion faux pas, and hence, certain expert tips must always be kept in mind if one wants to sport neon! The colour should be chosen such that it flatters the skin tone and hair colour, neon must never be overdone- too much of neon can look gaudy and flamboyant to the point of being too loud on the eyes. If you’re wearing a neon top, make sure you team it up with a skirt or a bottom of a softer, more soothing tone to balance your look. Contrast is the keyword, to maintain harmony on your appearance. Last but not the least, if you’re not too sure as to how neon will look on you, try out neon nail polish, or a neon belt, or a neon satchel bag to give you a hint!
The intention is to add spark and intrigue to your wardrobe and not to make you look like a glow-stick. So choose and show off your ‘neons’ in a wise way to spell the magic! It has the perfect mix of glamour and exuberance to make you stand out in a crowd.

Guest blog post from Glad2bawoman is an online media company with a growing community of more than 69,000 members. All about women and for women, it encompasses a variety of topics including empowerment, relationships and fashion.

So, bring out those neons girls!!! And flaunt everything fluorescent in style! :D

Stay stylish!

Bye Fall.....same time, next year?

by , in
Aloha lovelies!!!!!

How have you all been???

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend!
And if you all are not done with the sale time shopping yet, there's still Cyber Monday looming large ahead! So, make the most of the last hours left!!! ;)

The last few months of the year always seem to pass by in a flurry of activities........festivals, occasions, weddings blah blah, all seem to come one after the other in quick succession.........then there's the thrill of the slightly chilly evenings and taking out your warm clothes.......the excitement of layering your outfits........the enthusiasm of the upcoming party season........and of course, the anticipation of the year-end itself, coupled with thoughts of heralding the beginning of a brand new year with brand new hopes, resolutions & aspirations........sigh! The last few months of the year are hectic, I tell you! *wipes-imaginary-sweat-from-real-forehead*

I'm fully occupied in making clothes for the winters & the party season ahead. Have TWO exhibition-cum-sales lined up in the 2nd week of December. Pretty excited about the new stuff I have in mind for the latest collection! :))

In fact, I'm planning to do a post soon on some of the latest pieces from my brand.......just a showcase of what I actually do, full-time! What say? Yay or nay???

Till then, here's my last outfit post (I swear!) from the Durga Puja festival that was in October! (Yes...I do tend to lag back sometimes.....)
Wore this on the last day of the festival and went out to lunch with the guy & on of my besties.

A flowy sheer top with a pretty belt, a pair of black denims, a few nice accessories and a dainty pair of  waterproof PVC slip-on flats saw me through the lunch & shopping mall sojourn afterwards.. :)

My friend, D, who took all the other snaps! (Obviously, this one is taken by my guy)

Sheer top with flower belt: BK Market, Kolkata
Black denims: BK Market, Kolkata
Blue satchel: BK Market, Kolkata
Rose ring: Accessorize
Mask ring: New Market, Kolkata
Pastel pink PVC flats with bows: BK Market, Kolkata

Now that Fall is bidding us farewell....are you all ready to welcome the winters in style???

Are you looking forward to layering up in the comfy knits & loops of cozy mufflers/stoles like I am? Or snuggling deep inside the blankets with a book in your hand?? Or maybe even basking in the pale winter afternoon sunlight with a mug of hot coffee???

Sigh! The very though of Winter conjures up so many beautiful images in our minds, no? Well's time to live those memories once over again! :D

Now........let's get back to those Cyber Monday deals before the day gets over or all the tempting stuff get sold out! (It's 2.51 am at night here now...and I need to catch up on some sleep in between all the blogging & shopping, even if only the window kind..!)

Have a happy week you all!!!!!!!

Hugs, shmugs....

I you???

Being a fashion designer, I look at other designers' works very critically & with lots of attention to each & every detail, such as colors, cuts, patterns, silhouettes, on & so forth...

Hence, very few designers succeed in exciting me or even interesting me with their skills & sensibilities.

Recently, though, I came across a pair of talented & upcoming designers from the Indian fashion fraternity who impressed me with their designer clothes that are simple & smart, yet chic in their own unique & stylish way.
Timsy Khamboj & Siddharth Mittal are the thinking minds behind I KNOW, a fashion label that caters to not only the stylish youth of our country, but abroad too. I Know has uber-chic ranges of both women's wear & men's wear that are perfect choices for today's fashion conscious crowd. Be it office wear, casual wear or party wear, I Know has tempting styles to offer.

Siddharth & Timsy of I KNOW

Timsy, an alumnus of Pearl Academy of Fashion, is the creative force behind the brand, while Siddharth handles the business aspect. They have an incredible understanding of silhouette development and their own preference of more minimal and uncluttered design make for strikingly contemporary sensibility.
A tapestry of varied cultural references infused with urbane existence plays a key role in their collections with which they combine natural affinity to line, shape & postmodern architecture.

A few pieces from their women's work wear collection are enough to make you drool. The clean cuts, the smart panels and the in-trend color blocking will make any woman stand out in a boring, corporate crowd.

You can even take a pick from their versatile dresses which will take you effortlessly from office to party in style. Their chic silhouettes and smart use of colors is one of the reasons for my liking their work.

There's a dearth of good men's wear designers in the country and I Know is slowly filling that gap as well. Their selection of men's shirts & trousers are commendable for today's dapper young men. The smart styles & interesting details make their men's wear range noteworthy.

For more designs & products, you can check out their Facebook page.

Timsy & Siddharth are also taking the next step forward by launching their own website cum online store. So, now, you can take your pick from I Know's latest collection of designer men's wear & women's wear at

So....go and sign up today! You'll even get a gift voucher of 500 INR on registration!!! :)

You can also find them on Twitter, Pinterest and the I Know Blog.

So ladies & that you also know, stay tuned to know more about I KNOW...... :))

Phew!! This festive season is making me feel like a hurricane! I have been rushing around from my workshop to friends' places to ex-office to relatives' like a crazy tornado on wheels and at the end of it all, I'm feeling absolutely winded! *exhausted-tongue-hanging-out-of-the-mouth-look*

But boy oh boy! Has it been fun!!!! :D

Diwali is yet another example of the vibrant culture of our country. The gorgeous outfits, the brilliant decor, the dazzling lights, the sparkling fireworks, the tempting sweets, the prayers to Goddess Laxmi (the Goddess of wealth) for success & prosperity in life - all of these & more make Diwali a beautiful festival! Though I like to see the fireworks in action from a safe distance only, I love lighting up the house in all its shining glory. Out come strings of rope lights, LED lights, candles in various shapes & sizes, diyas (clay lamps) et all. And every-time I look at the beautifully lit house dazzling in the dark folds of the evening, I feel a warm glow of happiness & contentment.
And just don't get me started on the sweets! I have stopped counting the calories now. My mom is feeding me sweets at every possible chance and, Diwali being time for some of the yummiest confections to make their way into the house, I can hardly complain! One look at my waistline and I know I should refuse her the next time to comes towards me, sweet in hand. But so much for guilty pleasures! Sigh!!
I have been dressing up in ethnic outfits for the past 2-3 days. Unfortunately, I don't have any outfit snaps (coz most snaps - whatever have been clicked - are group pictures or clicked-without-notice ones)....all I can say is that all my Indian-wear for Diwali had been designed by me, so I basked in pride of all the compliments I received from family & friends.

Hopefully, I can take some pictures the next time I wear any of those outfits.

Till then, I have got some of my favourite snapshots of Diwali to share..... :))

The only phone-clicked snap from Diwali evening!

Hope you all had a wonderful Diwali too!!! (Those who celebrated, that is...)
And Happy Bhaidooj* to all of you brothers & sisters out there! :D
*Bhaidooj is an occasion...or you can say, yet another festival, that comes right after Diwali. On this occasion, sisters pray for the long life of brothers and perform a ceremony to ensure the brothers' safety & success. Brothers, of course, give gifts and bless the sisters (if elder to them) with happiness & prosperity. This also calls for a feast, which the sister generally prepares for the brother, and the whole family joins in.

Now...back to the grind.......!

And the countdown to Christmas begins!!! ;)
[Sorry...but we, Indians, just can't live without festivals!!]

Till next time guys.......

It's gifted, it's white & I love it!

So...the festive hangover continues.........and before we have time to wake up & smell some strong coffee, another wild night knocks on the door. In the form of Diwali! :)

And Diwali's gonna be one BIG party........with all its vibrant festivity, lights, fireworks, glamour, magnificence and celebratory countenance!
What all are your plans for Diwali, guys??? All geared up for some dazzling display of festive frolic?

I'm busy preparing to jazz up others' Diwali with gorgeous new clothes, as usual! Hope my designs will add some sparkle to someone else's celebrations. :D

In the meantime, I'm back with yet another outfit from the Durga Puja days. I wore this on Mahashtami (the eighth day of the Navratri period) and that day, instead of going around town visiting the temporary festival spots, I just chilled at Flury's (a more-than-150 years old bakery cum cafe of Calcutta) with cousins and went over to Prinsep Ghat (a jetty along the embankment of River Hooghly by the 2nd Hooghly Bridge) for a celebrate-the-beauty-and-heritage-of-Calcutta stroll & some random photo session!

This pretty pristine white tunic was gifted to me by my designer buddy Amalraj Sengupta
This beautiful piece is from my friend's latest collection and came with a bright yellow inner which created a fun contrast to the white finery. What makes this tunic coveted is its elegant flared silhouette and pretty pleated detailing at the front, back & shoulders.

I wore the tunic with bright blue tights and carried a blue satchel to match! :)
P.S.: Note the fun aqua sandals with big bows!! *love*

My thrifted beaded statement neckpiece got me as many compliments as the tunic did!

White tunic with yellow inner: Amalraj Sengupta, gifted
Blue tights: BK Market, Kolkata
Green beaded necklace: Thrifted, Kolkata
Watch: Giordano, V-day gift
Green oval ring: BK Market, Kolkata
Yellow heart ring: Accessorize
Blue satchel: BK Market, Kolkata
Aqua plastic sandals with bow: BK Market, Kolkata

Now, I have to go back to some mails I had started drafting four hours back and finish them off.......

Tomorrow's yet another day........and a Monday at that!
So, make your week crazy & lots of fun!!! :))

Till next time........keep it stylish!

It was THAT time of the year again!

by , in
Oh!! The last few days were so much fun!!! No wonder it's my most favourite time of the year! Barring my birthday, that is. :D

Durga Puja comes once a year. For five days. And turns my whole world upside down.

The sights, the sounds, the smells, the new clothes, the good food, the fun time with friends & family, the laughter, the gossip, the pandal-hopping, the creativity, the night-outs, the madness - all this & more make these few days the most-awaited ones among the yearly 365!

And of course, this year was no exception. In fact, it was better if possible! :)

I was celebrating the festival for the first time since quitting my job & setting up my own brand of clothes & accessories.....and man, was it fun! The last month had been CRAZY, to put it mildly. Everyone wanted new clothes for the festival. And everyone wanted them fast! So, I have been literally going mad trying to work on innumerable orders & get stuff delivered on time. But, obviously, I had to work till the last minute to get new clothes to their rightful owners before the festival began and as a result, no new clothes from my brand succeeded in making their way into my closet! Woes of being a designer, I guess! :(

Anyway, so, I had to resort to wearing clothes I had picked up from other places and somehow managed not to wear immediately after I bought them! Lesson learnt: I should start making clothes for myself, which I would wear during Durga Puja next year, like, RIGHT NOW!!!

Here's what I wore on Saptami (the 2nd day of Durga Puja & the 7th day on the Navratri period)......went out with the guy, saw quite a few thematic puja celebrations by different clubs, ate yummy junk food from street-side stalls and had sumptuous Indian dinner, followed by ice cream! Sounds perfect? was! :))

Oh! Just realised that this is the first post I'm doing after having my latest haircut! :D
What say guys? Yay or nay???
(Though how much you can understand here is a point of concern....I had chosen a plait to brave the hours of jostling with the crowd & sweating in the heat!)

I would have preferred to wear this dress, as a dress....but donned a pair of tights to be on the safe never know the kind of crowd that roam the streets during the festive season!

Floral dress:  BK Market, Kolkata
Black tights: BK Market, Kolkata
Yellow satchel: BK Market, Kolkata
Fabric covered bangles: Platinum Mall, Bangkok
Woven cane bangles: Bangladesh
Jade bangle: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Oval green ring: BK Market, Kolkata
Crystal ring: ALDO Accessories
Watch: Skagen, gifted
Hairclip: New Market, Kolkata
Tan ballerina: Enroute

A few snapshots from that day - glimpses of the festive city....

Glittering grandeur...

Play of lights

The Mother Goddess

Monochrome beauty

I'll be back with the rest of the pictures from the festive days. Soon. :)

For now, I have to catch up on all the lost sleep (thanks to the night outs & unearthly hours I kept during the festival!).

It still seems like it's Sunday (today, or rather yesterday - since it's 2am right now, was Dashami or the last day of the it has all just only got over!) and work starts again tomorrow morning! Which it does. Only, it's not a Monday, but a Thursday. Well...that makes this quite a small working week. And I'm so not complaining! ;)

Have a great week & a greater weekend ahead guys!

Lotsa love!

A (not-so) Black Heart

by , in

There was a small black spot in her heart
That grew and grew until it was all black.
Sometimes her heart shone through, in a glimmering ray of gold,
Sometimes, the blackness was more wild than the wilderness within.
Most of the times, she was seen searching for her lost heart in the dark depths of the black.
Oh! What a beautiful black it was...

NOTE: There's nobody particular whom I have written the above about!
It's just that I wanted to write something connected to the outfit...and this is what I came up with!! (You can see the relevance soon enough!)

Sort of felt like those school/college days, when I had the time & leisure to sit and weave thoughts into words of poetry, filling pages after pages of diaries, stray paper napkins or torn sheets of notebooks. Some of those lines even made their way into the pockets of cute guys and hopeless crushes.

Guess, I still haven't lost the ;)

This is what I wore to Day 3 of Signature Premier Fashion Week Kolkata
Now you can go and read the lines at the top once more! :P

It was my bold & wild night out! Well....sorta! ;)

A bit of grunge, a dash of goth, a li'l animal print, a glint of gold, a lot of black & a big heart (with fringes!)!!!

Top with fringed heart: BK Market, Kolkata
Animal print tights: BK Market, Kolkata
Black patent bag: Metro Plaza, Kolkata
Gold chain link necklace: DIY
Golden metal bangles: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Snakeskin & metal cuff: ASOS
Cat ring: Accessorize
Black booties: Tresmode

Thanks for the clicks, Ayantika! :)

Well.....right now, I'm wondering when will the ever-changing colors of Autumn grace my country with its beautiful presence........? (As it is still 40 degrees in the shade here...sigh!)
I'm dying to bring out the light jackets, the stoles, the scarves and feel the chill in the evening winds.......hello, Mr. Fall, are you listening???

Paint your Monday Pink and have a beautiful week ahead guys! :))

So long!

Florals, polka, lace - one or all?

by , in
All the Fashion Weeks & Fashion Tours making their presence in my city had rudely interrupted my Kerala series - posts from my recent trip to Kerala. So, while I still have outfit posts pending from the fashion events, I thought of sharing an outfit from my Kerala vacation in between! (Or else, they'll just lie forgotten in my folders and rot away in archives without being able to see the daylight of the blogosphere...)

In other news, the festive season is almost knocking on the am going crazy with work...
In fact, I'm so busy working on orders of new clothes for other people, that I haven't even started to think about my own new clothes!!! :(
In case you are wondering what I need new clothes for, it's for the upcoming festivities celebrated by our sect of Indians during Autumn. And one of the rules of the festival is that we wear new clothes for all 5 days of celebration! (There cannot be a better kind of festival than that, right???) :D

Anyways, moving on to the outfit......this is what I wore the day I travelled from Alappuzha to Thekkady. Alappuzha was a town by the beautiful back waters, while Thekkady is a hilly area famous for it's spice gardens and the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Unfortunately, I fell ill during my two-day stay in Thekaddy, so these are the only pictures I have of the place! Well....all I can hope is that I will visit it again some day and do justice to the beauty of its forests & lakes.

Hotel Ambadi was one of the quaintest & picturesque hotels of Thekkady....I loved its pretty li'l cottages, rustic decor, surrounding greenery & abundant use of bricks & wood... :)

Apart from the location, another reason for this being one of my favorite outfit posts in recent times, is the fact that this dress is from my own collection! I love the floral print of this dress, the polka & the li'l lace detailings....and it always feels extra-nice to have a Howrah Bridge piece on!! :D

Green sling: BK Market, Kolkata
White flower ring: Accessorize
Red ivory & green jade bangles: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Black wooden bangle: ???
Red strappy sandals: c/o

As I was posting these pictures, I felt a wee bit nostalgic and for a moment, I wanted to be back there in the rustic beauty of Thekkady & the Ambadi hotel.'ll be quite a while now before I can make a trip back there...! So, these pictures are my only way of escape to those remote realms....Sigh!!

But, I have no time whatsoever to sit & dwell on my memories & unachievable wishes.....hence, I'll rush off back to work!

Wish everyone out there a fabulous Sunday and an even more wonderful week ahead!!!

Lots of love,
Anupriya DG
