Yes...we have all started our countdowns to the NYE.....haven't we? :)

The superstitious ones can heave a sigh of relief - 20'13' is about to end! (Is it just me, or does anybody else feel that this year had an eerily large number of Friday-the-13ths?)
The party animals can be happy - here's one more reason to celebrate!
Most of us have sat down more than once to make that much-needed list of New Year resolutions. And almost all of those who have, still have an empty or incomplete list. :P

This year has been quite a good one for me.
Of course, it has had its ups & downs.
But overall, there are a lot of things I owe to 2013:

  • Meeting quite a few new people (really or virtually), who have gone on to become great friends. They are so much a part of my life now, that it seems quite unbelievable that it's not even been an year since I know them!!
  • Taking Howrah Bridge to new heights - showcasing at new exhibitions, stocking at new stores, getting numerous international orders & even getting featured in electronic & print media....this year has surely been good to my brand!
  • Travelling. A LOT. This surely has been an year close to my traveloholic heart! From enjoying the fashion week in Mumbai to a family holiday in Gujarat to having a blast at BFF's wedding at Agra - I have been all over the country this year!
  • Getting this blog a lot of attention. I have collaborated with quite a few brands/websites this year for reviews & giveaways, thus giving my blog it's share of mileage. But if everything works out fine, then 2014 is going to be bigger & better as far as Chappals vs Stilletoes is concerned. :D
  • Last, but not the least, bonding - with friends, with family, with the guy - this year has seen me grow closer to my loved ones and spend many special moments with them. Hope 2014 knows about the expectations it has to live up to! ;)
Oh! And did I say that 2013 gave me my new phone.........and along with it, INSTAGRAM??? [Blackberry, unfortunately, didn't support this app and so, I was deprived of this lovely thing till I got my new Samsung Galaxy Grand!]

Yes, I got introduced to Instagram halfway through the year....and it has been an incessant love affair ever since! <3
So, when I sat down to write this year-end post, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite Instagram-ed moments with you would be a fitting goodbye to 2013!

Yes....I'm almost dome with the wedding marathon! (Just have my friend's reception party left to attend on the 14th)

And in between all the wedding madness, there were quite a few people who discovered the make-up pro in me!
I did the make-up & hair for my friend on her Engagement day, and soon after I had a long list of assignments on hand starting with the friend's mom & sister and going on to cover almost all her female relatives! :P
The result? I was the last one to reach the venue on both engagement & wedding days. *sigh*

Coming back to the blog, now that you guys have had a virtual tour of the state of Gujarat where I had my last family's a brief update on what I wore while I was clicking those pictures! :D

Day 1: Sightseeing around Ahmedabad

I have a whole lot of fun collaborations & product reviews coming up! Stay tuned fellas!

Lots of love,

There's a new epidemic in town!
It's called Marriage.

You are laughing? I have got more than three close friends....all getting married within a span of one week.
One of them is getting married in Agra. For which I have to travel with her and be out of town for 6 days. In which time another 2 friends are having their wedding. Which I'm not being able to attend. For which I'm getting emotionally blackmailed by all & sundry.

Now say!

At the end, I went for a college buddy's wedding today (and heard no end of it since I won't be able to attend his reception party on the 1st!); leaving for Agra on the 1st, enjoying my BFFs wedding for 5 days, coming back to town on the 6th afternoon; rushing to another childhood friend's wedding on the 6th evening (again hearing no end of it as she had invited me to be a part of all ceremonies from 5th); and trying to drop in at a work buddy's wedding sometime on the 6th evening itself! Phew!!!
I should be certified an expert in running wedding marathons!

The scariest part, though, is not the inundating number of wedding invitations flooding my desk right now. It's what to wear in all these back to back parties! Since, all thanks to Facebook & instant smartphone-clicked pictures, one (specially, one who's a part of the fashion industry) cannot, by any means, commit the heinous crime of repeating outfits at such occasions!!

So, as you can see, I'm facing a fashion block. Too less time. Nothing to wear. The story of all of our lives (I'm sure you agree girls!) *sigh*

Hence, I thought of skipping fashion for this post & sharing with you some snaps of my recent (well....October was, technically, just one month ago) family vacay to the vibrant state of Gujarat!

Hope you enjoy the pictures while I mull some more over what to wear for the next 10 days!!!

Till then,
Keep it stylish!

The Mist

by , in
A slight chill has set in in the air. The dawns are getting misty.
The sky was unusually blue today. With little tufts of clouds, much like torn bits of cotton wool.
Sachin Tendulkar, the God of cricket as we know it, has played his last match. An era has come to its end.
All the world & its neighbour are out partying on a Saturday night.
I'm home, watching the Google reunion ad on YouTube with my sister.
My guy is gallivanting around Goa with his office colleagues. (Annual departmental meet, my foot. Whoever works while in Goa???) I'm left here to miss him & envy him. *sigh*
Aah! I have Sour Punk candy to drown my sorrows in. :D

This is from a day I had met up with a couple of friends for a fun evening of (window) shopping & gossiping! And this is from the archives. ^_^

That's fellow blogger Soumi.....and yes, I do love this girl to bits!!! <3

Maxi dress with lace sleeves: Howrah Bridge
Silver rose earrings: New Market, Kolkata
Metal feather necklace: Westside
Rose ring: Accessorize
Neon & nude leather tote: Leder Land, Kolkata
Green bow belt: BK Market, Kolkata

Spent this afternoon watching science fiction monster movie The Mist on WB. The engaging adaptation of the Stephen King novel had one of the most heart-wrenching & miserable endings I've ever seen in any film before.

Looking forward to Monday. Coz that's when the guy comes back to town!

Ta da!

Fashion Diaries - III

by , in
I swear this is gonna be the last post on my fashion week sojourn last August.
Yes. Then we'll move on to newer outfits and events.
Trust me, I have loads of pictures straining to spill out of my archives on to these pages.... *sigh*

Wrapping up the Lakme Fashion Week series with a quick outfit post on what I wore for the last two days at the event. :)

This was my avatar on the 3rd day of the event.
Don't worry...I was not feeling blue......just wearing it! ;)

Cobalt pants: Vero Moda

And yayyy! I finally met up with fellow blogger cum till-then-virtual-friend, the sexy & uber-chic Karishma Rajani of Purple Peeptoes [Haven't checked out her blog yet? You MUST!]

This is Day 4 of fashion week - the last & final day of the fashion frenzy!
Happy colors - boho elements(feathers, florals & a braid) - happy me! ^_^

Floral top: Zink London
Yellow pants: BK Market, Kolkata
Chunky earrings: Tribal Zone
Feather necklace: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
White & yellow bag: Leder Land, Kolkata
Grey peep-toe wedges: Enroute

Posing with my sweet & pretty teacher-turned-friend Anamika Debnath. She used to be my professor at college.....but we hang out as pals now. Such is the strange way of life. :)

Also, she is the one sweet enough to have taken all the earlier outfit pictures of mine throughout fashion week, never once tiring of all the posing & the retakes. Oh! What a great time we have had on that trip!!! *nostalgia hits*

So, with this, I drop the curtains on the Fashion Week series.
Will be back soon.
Till then, move it & shake it!! \m/

Asta la vista guys!

Fashion Diaries - II

by , in
After a hiatus of more than 3 weeks, during which I spent a hectic but exciting Durga Puja and a more hectic & more exciting family holiday in Gujarat (more on both coming in following posts), I'm back to carry forward the fashion week series that had had a brief interval.

Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week saw some seriously impressive sartorial action! :)
Some great shows, fun gossip sessions with friends who dropped by & some amazing style spotting made the day super-awesome! Oh!! And to add to that, I did a pretty spot of shopping that day at Colaba Causeway and hung out with friends by the seaside at Carter Road till the middle of the night!
*Nostalgia hits*

Some of the shows I attended:
Ken Ferns: Amazingly tailored, perfectly finished, celebrity showstoppers
Valliyan by Nitya Arora: Bold, statement jewellery, pieces of art
Karishma Shahani: Recycled chic, quaint, bohemian, fun

And then happened the show by my college buddy Sneha Arora. [Yes. That's the genius behind the bag I'm carrying in the last post]
What. A. Show.
The girl stunned one & all with her military inspired collection that was smart, chic, wearable & absolutely international in look & detailings. Her androgynous style & off-beat prints are to die-for! <3

Day 2 saw me layering up a storm of boho love! ^_^
Maxi dress. Knotted at hem.
Denim shirt worn as jacket.
A peek-a-boo of Aztec print leggings.
Jhola bag.
Messy bun hairdo.
Thong slippers.

My love for houndstooth checks matches my love for maxi dresses and when I found this, it was a match made in my dream heaven! <3

And needless to say, this denim shirt is quickly turning out to be the layering star of my wardrobe.

Houndstooth maxi dress:  BK Market, Kolkata
Denim shirt: Commercial Street, Bangalore
Aztec print leggings: Shoppers Stop
Spiked Layers Necklace: Latin Quarters
Gold cuff: Thrifted
Flower ring:
Rose gold watch: Tommy Hilfiger
Embroidered tote bag: Borrowed from friend
Thong sandals: Catwalk

In other news....the #octoberwithinfb photo-a-day challenge on Instagram has made this month all the more exciting! If you are an avid user of the photo app like me, then do show me some love by following me on @anupriyadg  :))

Here's looking forward to a crazy Halloween!!! Have a spooky one!

Front Row fashion...

by , in
I just realised that I have published only one post in the whole sweet month of September.
Now I know why 'business' is spelt that way. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm interrupting my Fashion Week series a bit to bring to you a brand new virtual find of mine! :)

When Front Row Shop wrote to me to review one of their products, it was a sceptical finger that clicked on the link leading to the website. But once I was there, I knew I was sold for good! <3
Front Row Shop is an online shopping portal that stocks a most fabulous collection of clothes & accessories for the fashion-loving women out there. Their pieces are well-cut, simple & chic with smart little details, thus making each product covetable & quite irresistible!

Trust me when I say that I had a really tough time choosing one product for the review and after much confusion & deliberation, I went for this dress!! Take a look! :)

The dress came around 20 days after ordering and the packaging was properly & safely done. When I opened up the dress, it was love at second sight! The minimalist silhouette, the pretty blush hue & the chic white collar & cuffs looked even more perfect up front.

So, even though I'm busier than ever with work, I wore this dress at the first given chance (which was yesterday!) and fell in love a third time over!

The simple cut of the dress, coupled with the beautiful color & smart details made it the final pick for me! I can already see myself wearing this dress in a number of ways - that's the beauty of simplicity, you can create magic with it.

I thought of going the neo- classy way for the first time - hence, the chunky earrings, layered neutral necklaces, messy bun held with an arty clip, piece-of-art ring & hand-painted wedge pumps - with the vibrant printed clutch, that I picked up on impulse from my designer buddy Sneha Arora (this bag was from her first fashion week collection two seasons back) on a visit to her workshop last week, providing an interesting contrast! :)

Dress: c/o Front Row Shop
Printed suede clutch: Sneha Arora
Black macramé necklace: Colaba Causeway, Mumbai
Cameo pendant necklace: Pantaloons, Kolkata
Gold & white disc earrings: Platinum Mall, Bangkok
Double stone arty ring: Aquamarine, Mumbai
Handpainted wedge pumps: Spirited Soles

On my nails: Colorbar Lime Margarita
On my lips: Colorbar Peach Crush

The dress was as comfortable as it is pretty! The fabric is light, airy & of good quality & so are the trims.
All in all, I'm absolutely impressed by Front Row Shop and would recommend it to all fashionistas out there who want to get their nail-arted hands on anything that's not run-of-the-mill, but unique & high on the style-meter!

What's earn $1 right on registration and once you shop for over $1, you become a VIP member and can enjoy 5% discount forever!! :D

So, what are you waiting for? Click on the link to the website provided all over this post or avail the Front Row Shop banner that you can see on the right hand side bar of this page.

Happy shopping girls!!!

Love schmove!
