Online Shopping: BornPrettyStore.com

by , in
Thanks to the ease, convenience & comfort of online shopping, I've reduced my trips to the mall by more than half! Even in this Sale season when the malls have turned red with the discount banners screaming out tempting offers from every store window, I'm sitting in front of my computer, lost in the big, wide world of online deals & new-found treasures! :)
The boom in the online shopping industry have started since the past couple of years and this year it promises to scale new heights and lure more people into the lazy confines of their couch/chair/bed for some non-tiring retail therapy.

I started this year on the blog by introducing you all to a lovely lingerie shopping portal and here I am, once again, bringing to you another of my online shopping finds - an amazing & pocket-friendly website called BornPrettyStore.com!

BornPrettyStore has an amazing range of nail art products, beauty products, jewelry & accessories, tech accessories, watches, hair products, apparel, home décor, stationery, sports goods & other cool stuff!!! All this under one roof website and that too at super-economical prices with flash sales & eyeball-grabbing deals on throughout the year!!! :D
I checked out their Jewelry & Accessories department for starters and was taken aback at the flabbergastingly low prices and super-impressive variety of products available! Cute, fun, classy, quirky, pretty, elegant, chic - you ask for it, you get it. I actually spend hours browsing through their exhaustive array of tempting accessories at even more tempting prices! *sigh*
The payment process is smooth & hassle-free (not to mention the discount coupon codes available on the website almost always), shipping is mostly free worldwide with a nominal charge for some items and the order delivery time is around 25-30 days.

The packaging was sturdy & well-done and I opened the parcel to find these pretty bits of jewelry nestling in their individual plastic pouches amongst lengths of foam wrap. <3
Yes, after endless hours of browsing through pages afters pages of appealing accessories, I had chosen a neon yellow braided metallic bracelet with a tassel, a super-cute watch-faced ring in candy pink and a retro antique-hued leaves-shaped clip-on ear cuff!!!

And I flaunted my BornPrettyStore haul with an abstract print monochrome dress & candy-floss pink blazer. ^_^

Ear cuff, neon tasselled bracelet, watch ring: c/o BornPrettyStore | Abstract print dress: Vero Moda | Pink jacket: c/o Elle Fashionwear | Watch: Anne Klein | Beaded bracelet, pink bracelet: Accessorize | Bow earrings: Accessorize | On my nails: Blueberry Ice, Maybelline Color Show | On my lips: Peach Crush, Colorbar

Even as I'm typing this, I'm toggling between Blogger, Facebook and a couple of new-found online shopping portals. :P
So, hopefully, I'll be back soon with news of another virtual treasure trove of chic goodies!
Till then, check out the BornPrettyStore website - click on the BornPretty ad widget on the right hand side bar on this page and even get a 10% discount with coupon code DGT10!!! Go, go, go!

Happy Sunday!

Pretty Secrets for pretty women!

by , in
And...er...for not so pretty ones too! ^_^

Well, today I review an item of requirement for women of all ages/shapes/sizes - the indispensible lingerie, the purchasing of which demands a lot of thought & care.
Generally, I buy my lingerie from renowned/authorised retail outlets because quality & assurance is of utmost importance for an item that we have such an intimate relationship with. The fit, the material & the quality has to be proper for me to make it my second skin.
But in this day & age of a booming (and more so every moment) online shopping industry, the virtual world beckons & tempts us to ditch the trip to the mall and buy even the most delicate of items from the comfy confines of our home. I have been succumbing to the lazy pleasures of online shopping slowly, buying first jewelry, accessories, books, beauty products & finally clothes from the various Indian as well as international shopping portals sprouting up like wild mushrooms all over the world wide web.
One fine day, I came across PrettySecrets.com and for once, I was tempted to buy even lingerie with a decisive click of the mouse. :)

Pretty Secrets is a one-stop online shopping portal for women's lingerie, shapewear, nightwear, swimwear, workout clothes, innerwear accessories and even a select range of beachwear! The website boasts of a handpicked array of products from well-known brands such as Enamor, Bw!tch, Lovable, Triumph, Peri Peri etc. along with the in-house brand Pretty Secrets itself. What's more, most of these brands are available at awesome offers & great discounts, thus absolutely beating the stores at the game!

So, when these guys over at Pretty Secrets contacted me to review their website, my joy, of course, knew no bounds! But, as they say, too much of a good thing is never good. Well....for me, the worse part was having to pick out a couple of products from amongst the innumerable tempting options filling the website. After hours (spanning over a period of not one, but two nights!) of choosing & picking, I zeroed in on some pieces which had me drooling at sight!
The checkout & payment options -  were also easy to navigate & user-friendly and the whole process was completed in a matter of mere minutes. What's more, the home page also woos you with flashing promises of discreet packaging & free shipping!!! I was excited, to say the least!

Unfortunately, almost 2 weeks after I had placed my order, when I was almost wondering whether they start making the products from scratch only after the orders are placed; one day I got a call from one of their customer service managers. She very apologetically informed me that Fedex (the courier service) had supposedly lost the parcel in transit and have not been responding to their frequent follow-ups about the same. She was very sweet and sounded genuinely hassled by the lack of responsibility on the courier service provider's part and she promised me that she'll get a new set of products shipped out to me ASAP.
True to her words, the next day itself, I got an e-mail informing me that my order was on the way and 3 days later, there it was on my doorstep! :D

I loved the packaging!!! The pretty pink box looked so impeccable that I hardly wanted to open it!

The inner packaging also was, as declared, quite discreet & nicely done. It came with a cute card with guidelines on lingerie care & storage too!

Overall, I would say it was a good & confident-boosting experience. The products were clean, sturdy, perfect fit & of a good quality and the shopping experience was smooth & easy (barring the li'l mistake on Fedex's part)
The stores at the mall don't realise how much of a business they just lost out to another smart online shopping portal! Coz, I'll definitely keep an eye on the attractive deals Pretty Secrets offers and from now on, my mouse will see a lot of action, lingerie-wise! ;)

I would totally recommend Pretty Secrets to all you ladies who think that lingerie can't be bought from the comfort of your couch. Trust me, you'll save yourself the penetrating stares from other customers boring a hole in your back as you pick up a lingerie from the arrays at display & head over to the trial rooms.

So, go check out the website and see for yourself!
Of course, you can thank me later for introducing you to it!! ^_^

Have a nice weekend you all!

Hello 2014!

by , in
And hello all you people who've partied (or not) yourselves into the new year!!! :)

Five days into the new year, I have had my fair share of excitement already............what with a blazing fire in front of the house in an electric transformer box that had us out on the streets, pyjama-clad, in the cold at 5 am; Soumi's (a friend whom I met on the blogosphere) fun b'day party; meeting a fellow Indian blogger from Canada and my bit of fame in the form of a feature in an article on bloggers-cum-entrepreneurs in Indulge, the Friday supplement that comes with the new Indian Express in Chennai!!

Soumi (yes....the b'day girl) said recently that she's excited to read my new year resolutions. Well........as each year passes with too many new resolutions made, some of them kept & most of them broken.....I decided to skip the whole la-di-dah this year and just make a bucket list. Maybe, voice my own wishes/aims/thoughts?

I want to travel. Here. There. Everywhere.

If I ever win a lottery or some unknown rich kin-less relative leaves me a huge legacy (or something similar happens that makes me a millionaire overnight.....you get the drift, right?), I'll just pack my bags, take my camera and set out to see the world. I want to go everywhere. To the small towns, to the big cities. To the highest mountains, to the prettiest beaches. To the cold climes, to the hot tropics. To near, to far. I want to leave my footprints on every path. I want to live out of a suitcase. Maybe two. Ummm....considering the places I'll visit & the amount of shopping I'll do (right above traveloholic, on the list of words that best describe me, there's shopaholic!).........well, make that twenty.

I want to give. A little more, everyday.

We all crib about how we don't have enough money or how we could have done with a bit more. Well, there's always someone else to whom whatever we have seems like a lot! We never think twice before spending small amounts like 10, 20, 50, 100 bucks on trivial things like a chocolate, a pack of chips, a magazine, a hair-clip or even a cup of coffee. But if we can spare the least of that amount for someone who needs it, well, it would make much more of a difference than that once-read-then-discarded magazine or that sipped-sitting-in-an-AC-cafe cup of sub-standard coffee. A difference, that'll make you feel good. Mark my words, try it.

I want to create. And then some more.

My career runs on creativity. And good business skills, of course. Since I have a major lack in the second ingredient, I have to make up for it with the first. In fact, creativity is what had driven me to be the much-talked-about-and-criticized "Designer" in a family brimming with expectations of making either doctors or engineers out of their children. Creativity is what had driven me to hand in the letter at my comfortable & well-paying 9 to 5 job and start my own small venture. Creativity is what drives me each day, each moment to do something new - to design, to blog, to write, to sketch, to make, to click, to think, to envision.

I want to break free. Shake off those shackles.

I want to get married, not because I'm slowly creeping past the socially acceptable marital age, but because I feel it's the right time to. I want to make friends with people who live scandalous lives, because I know where to draw the line. I want to go on road trips and live on roadside dhaba meals, because you can't see the myriad changing hues of the sky at sunset from behind tinted glasses of posh hotels. I want to stay in at home on a Monday and watch movies & soap reruns; because I can work my a** off through nights & even through Sundays when all my clients need clothes at once. I want to speak my mind and say what I feel in situations that demand delicate handling, because I don't want to look back on that moment later & wish that I had not kept quiet. I want to rise above the limitations of tradition & restrictive mentality and not care for illogical social taboos, because apart from being an Indian, I'm also a woman of the world.

These are a few of the most foremost & important paths I want to tread this year. I hope to walk on these paths strong, confident & happy. Hope to see some of you along the way! ^_^

Note: All the above photos have been taken by me, apart from the one of me clicking the cat, of course! [That has been clicked by a fellow photographer friend on one of our photowalks]

Have an amazing 2014 fellas!!!
Eat. Drink. Be merry.
Work hard.
Party harder.
