The Fashion Week hangover is still going strong (you can expect two more posts in the near future with 'Lakme Fashion Week' tags) and I'm here to share, with you guys, the work of two of my friends who double as two of my favourite young designers in the country right now. Their designs are contemporary, fresh and interesting, resulting in clothes that are true statement pieces!
AMALRAJ SENGUPTA by Amalraj Sengupta
This eponymous label by one of my closest buddies is one that has been going strong since the past five years. This guy, effortlessly one of the best students during our college days, has a design sensibility that is crisp, clean and futuristic. His clothes flaunt structured silhouttes and are fabulously finished and tailored to perfection. Amalraj Sengupta uses details as points of interest in garments with otherwise minimalist silhouettes. Clever patterns are his forte and his clothes are perfect for a tailored, androgynous look. Amalraj is more popular for his menswear line, with fashionable men from all over the country swearing by his jackets, suits and shirts that flaunt impeccable cuts and subtle details.

Amalraj Segupta takes a bow |
This season, Amalraj showed a collection dominated by menswear and interspersed with a few women's pieces. The pieces, made of denim, leather and indigo, were smart, well-cut and very international in appeal. Interesting layering options made the clothes versatile and wearable, while his contemporary take on tie-dye gave a fresh twist to the men's garments.

ANTAR-AGNI by Ujjwal Dubey
Ujjwal might have been a couple of years junior to me in college, but his work is as impactful and as mature as it gets. Layering, anti-fit and draped patterns make up his signature style and neutral hues his preferred color palette. In a short span of time, Ujjwal has succeeded in making a mark in the industry, dressing not only men and women from all over India, but also some of the biggest young Bollywood stars such as Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Akshay Kumar.

Ujjwal Dubey is all happy with his show |
Ujjwal's latest collection was a story of layers and asymmetry in blacks, beiges and greys, with a smattering of camouflage in between. Intelligently draped garments with their pseudo-layers and loose silhouettes were sent down the ramp in a melange of oversized-clothes-clad girls and rocking-them-kurtas men. The flavour of his clothes lies in their almost-unisex appeal and use of handwoven khadi fabrics, making the pieces highly desirable by the style-conscious fash-frat.
You can see more pictures of his collection here.
Also, look who I spotted seating front row across the ramp from me during the show - Bollywood's cute couple, actors Ritesih Deeshmukh and Genelia D'Souza, looking dapper and relaxed, all set to enjoy the latest fashion shenanigans!
So, what do you think of these two talented guys and their amazing work???
Aren't their clothes da bomb?
Yeah, I know I got some cool friends! :D
If you loved their designs as much as I do, do be a sport and share....give a shoutout, talk about them, or just use your social media skills to spread some love!
I'll send oodles of hugs your way!
