Even though I have become a frequent flyer between Kolkata and Bangalore right now, if anyone ever asks me which is "my city", I wouldn't miss a beat before saying "Kolkata".
The City of Joy has been 'home' for as long as I have been breathing this air and there's way more to this beautiful city than meets the eye.
Kolkata may not flaunt a sea-facing skyline like Bombay or a luxurious multi-storyed skyline like Delhi; but my city does boast of a cityscape peppered with heritage architecture such as the resplendent Victoria Memorial, the iconic Howrah Bridge, the magnificent Indian Meuseum and of course, the elegant Palladian porch on Prinsep Ghat.
I am a sucker for maxi shirt-dresses and when designer Kunal Chatterjee of Delhi-based brand I Am Trouble sent me this shirt-dress with a miniature cityscape pattern woven into the fabric, I was impressed by the intricacy of the weave and the modern simplicity of his design.
I knew I had to shoot this beauty in one of the places that make the Kolkata cityscape so historic and there could be nothing better than the pristine white pillars of the porch built in memory of James Prinsep on the embankment of River Ganga to bring out the tailored elegance of this smart shirt-dress!

The brand ethos of I Am Trouble by KC is primarily a minimalism-meets-rock-meets-alternative-meets-edgy kind of cool, contemporary style. Clean cuts, simple silhouettes, interesting details and edgy concepts make their collections fun, functional and fashionable. The fact that these cool clothes are quite easy on the pocket is an added bonus! #win
The colour palette of this brand has its foundation on a strong base of neutrals such as whites, blacks & greys with eye-catching pops of yellows, reds or neons here and there.
I thought of quirking up the structured cut and the androgynous look of this shirt-dress by wearing my new funky moustache pin as a tie and adding my pair of feminine tassel earrings. I can already think up of so many other ways of styling this dress and I know it's going to be my new closet favourite this season!
