Healthy Eating @ Cafe Pranah

by , in
Living out of two cities is no mean feat, let me tell you.
Nowadays, I feel that I spend more time at airports than at either of my homes in Kolkata or in Bangalore. And of course, I'm just making the airlines richer, in the process.

This running from one city to the other, changes in schedules, changes in climate, food habits etc. are making my lifestyle go haywire. And I'm really feeling the need to stabilise this life and infuse some doses of health in it.

After months of deliberation (and a choc-a-block schedule that left me with little time to do anything else), I finally joined Zumba classes in Bangalore, and now I spend an hour every morning dancing away to a fitter lifestyle.

But working out is not enough - for a healthy life, one needs to eat right too. And that's what reminded me that I had a post on healthy eating lying in the Drafts since a long time and now seemed to be the perfect time for sharing this with you guys.

I had the pleasure of experiencing Cafe Pranah's health food and live cooking session more than a month back. Rahul Arora, the owner of Cafe Pranah & Bon Appetite, plans to start live cooking session of yummy health & soul food on the first Sunday of every month where you can not only indulge in the healthy dishes offered by the cafe, but learn the tricks of the trade too!
Rahul has undergone a weight-loss process by only eating healthy and maintaining a balanced diet and he inspires and encourages people to do the same. He believes that healthy food can be yummy too and proves it by churning out dish after dish of finger-licking food that are low on calories and high on health.

Rahul enthralled us by rustling up a range of sumptuous dishes - Ginger & Pomegranate Iced Tea, Healthy Whole-Wheat Nachos with Hung-Curd instead of Cheese, Egg & Vegetables Ribbon Salad and a Fig & Dates Kulfi - and we indulged in some guilt-free hogging!

The healthy ingredients waiting to be turned into yummy dishes

Here's to a healthier & fitter life! Cheers!!

Cityscape {Style Prism x I Am Trouble}

by , in
Even though I have become a frequent flyer between Kolkata and Bangalore right now, if anyone ever asks me which is "my city", I wouldn't miss a beat before saying "Kolkata".
The City of Joy has been 'home' for as long as I have been breathing this air and there's way more to this beautiful city than meets the eye.

Kolkata may not flaunt a sea-facing skyline like Bombay or a luxurious multi-storyed skyline like Delhi; but my city does boast of a cityscape peppered with heritage architecture such as the resplendent Victoria Memorial, the iconic Howrah Bridge, the magnificent Indian Meuseum and of course, the elegant Palladian porch on Prinsep Ghat.

I am a sucker for maxi shirt-dresses and when designer Kunal Chatterjee of Delhi-based brand I Am Trouble sent me this shirt-dress with a miniature cityscape pattern woven into the fabric, I was impressed by the intricacy of the weave and the modern simplicity of his design.

I knew I had to shoot this beauty in one of the places that make the Kolkata cityscape so historic and there could be nothing better than the pristine white pillars of the porch built in memory of James Prinsep on the embankment of River Ganga to bring out the tailored elegance of this smart shirt-dress!

The brand ethos of I Am Trouble by KC is primarily a minimalism-meets-rock-meets-alternative-meets-edgy kind of cool, contemporary style. Clean cuts, simple silhouettes, interesting details and edgy concepts make their collections fun, functional and fashionable. The fact that these cool clothes are quite easy on the pocket is an added bonus! #win

The colour palette of this brand has its foundation on a strong base of neutrals such as whites, blacks & greys with eye-catching pops of yellows, reds or neons here and there.

I thought of quirking up the structured cut and the androgynous look of this shirt-dress by wearing my new funky moustache pin as a tie and adding my pair of feminine tassel earrings. I can already think up of so many other ways of styling this dress and I know it's going to be my new closet favourite this season!

You guys, go check out this awesome new brand, who's also vying for a place in the Gen Next category of the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week!! Please join me as I wish this brand all the very best and pray that they get to showcase their awesome stuff on the runway!

Follow I Am Trouble by KC on their website or Facebook page.
Show them some love, fellas!

Till next time!!

Anupriya
