Two-Faced

I have always stressed on the fact that an easy-breezy maxi dress is an absolute wardrobe essential for all style-conscious girls out there. They are not only your go-to summer outfits, but can also be layered up for winter, adorned for spring, and can be dressed up or down according to the occasion.

Hence, I'm always on the lookout for such versatile maxi dresses to add to my treasured collection. Needless to say, when I saw a blue &  white abstract print one on fashion portal Afamado, I knew it ticked all the right boxes and I needed to have it.

And just to prove my point on how indispensible such a dress is in your closet, I have styled the maxi dress in two drastically different ways - one a street-chic, punk-inspired, sporty look and the other an elegant, soft & classy look!

Go Gangsta

When you think of punk-chic fashion, a maxi dress is nowhere there in your mind's eye. But, here's breaking the stereotypes and wearing a flowy maxi dress in a badass way!
This look is a great example of how to wear monotone colors from head to toe. I went all-blue for this look, pairing the blue printed maxi with a denim jacket, blue sneakers and a blue striped backpack. Iron-on patches and a mish-mash of fun pins quirked up the jacket in a jiffy, while a pair of cool blue aviators upped the swag quotient. My funky pink fishnet finger-less gloves added a touch of pop color to break the monotony of all that blue while packing in a punch, style-wise! A couple of quirky spiked & animal print bracelets added to the punk-chic vibes.
And if you think this street-chic look is only fit for the streets, then you can't have been more mistaken! Wear this to a music festival, an art event or even a local flea market and turn heads in style!

A Class Apart
Turning 360 degrees on the fashion axis, I took the same dress on a classy trip and gave it an elegant look, perfect for a lunch date or a formal event. A white longline shrug softened up the geometric pattern of the dress, while a tan belt cinched in the waist to give it a dressy twist. Camel-hued sandals lent spring vibes to the outfit and a nude clutch added grace. I also went for statement pieces of jewellery like chunky golden earrings and an unique fused glass & metal ring. Hello classy look!
One can easily flaunt this easy breezy look at a summer lunch meeting or wear this to a Sunday brunch date with the special someone!
